Austin once again ranks number one as the "Best Place to Live in the U.S.", according to U.S. News & World Report. This marks the third year in a row Austin has been awarded the prestigious title. The rankings are based on affordability, job prospects and quality of life. In addition, a public survey was conducted with thousands of responses from people throughout the US. Great schools, a robust job market, lots of greenspaces and plenty of entertainment options propelled Austin to the top of the list.
In Austin, homes are affordable and unemployment is low. With median home prices at $292,500 and a 2.9% unemployment rate, it’s easy to see why the city is so desirable for relocation. The job market continues to grow as large companies and headquarters are consistently on the move to Austin. Some recent newcomers are pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co., which will open its new IT innovation center with 600 new employees and American Advisors Group (AAG). This is largely because Austin is affordable, and the quality of life is grand and making a career in Austin ideal for those looking for a great place to settle down.
